DGTL 2025: il nostro viaggio sonoro all’NSDM

Dal 18 al 20 aprile scorsi siamo stati ospiti del DGTL, il festival che apre la stagione open air. Condividiamo con voi le nostre impressioni.

Dal 18 al 20 aprile 2025, l’NDSM Docklands di Amsterdam ha ospitato la 13ª edizione di DGTL Festival, consolidandosi come uno dei principali eventi europei dedicati alla musica elettronica. Situato in un ex cantiere navale, il sito offre un’atmosfera unica, caratterizzata da strutture industriali riconvertite, architettura moderna.

La location e concept

DGTL è noto per la sua attenzione alla sostenibilità e all’innovazione artistica. Ogni anno, il festival presenta scenografie immersive e installazioni interattive, creando un’esperienza sensoriale completa. Nel 2025, è stato introdotto il nuovo palco Current Stage, dedicato ai suoni trance ed eurodance, situato sulla suggestiva discesa che porta al fiume.

La line-up del sabato: un mix di leggende e nuove promesse

La line-up di quest’anno ha visto alternarsi artisti affermati e talenti emergenti. Tra i tanti protagonisti del festival spiccano Marcel Dettmann, icona del Berghain il quale ha sorpreso il pubblico con un set house esclusivo, lontano dalle sue consuete sonorità techno; Mall Grab, artista australiano che ha infuso energia e versatilità nel suo set, spaziando tra house e techno con un tocco personale e coinvolgente per tutto il pubblico e Moody Mehran che ha offerto un mix eclettico di classici della Chicago house e scoperte inaspettate.

Con il suo ampio gusto musicale e una profonda passione per la house di Chicago, ha saputo mescolare con maestria brani iconici con sorprese, rendendo ogni set pieno di emozioni e sorprese. Ed ancora la versatilità sonora e la selezione impeccabile di Shanti Celeste ci hanno regalato un sabato pomeriggio variegato e inaspettato, attraverso dj set che sono usciti dalla dimensione festival per costruire, in pieno stile DGTL, una dimensione clubbing sovradimensionata ma assolutamente sentita e vissuta dal pubblico.

Nonostante bastasse camminare tra uno stage e l’altro, godendo del clima mite della giornata del sabato, le performance che ci hanno colpito maggiormente sono state quelle Daria Kolosova & Dax J che hanno hanno presentato un set potente e dinamico, caratterizzato da ritmi incalzanti e bassi profondi; il duo francese The Blaze che ha tenuto alta l’energia con un set che ha poi passato le consegne a Mano Le Tough per finire con la performance dell’artista di casa, Joris Voorn che con la sua live performance ha incantato il pubblico con sonorità melodic house, creando un’atmosfera ipnotica e coinvolgente.

È praticamente impossibile descrivere le emozioni e il coinvolgimento che hanno caratterizzato questa prima giornata di festival, ma possiamo dare un’idea dalla clip ufficiale di DGTL per il recap del sabato.

La domenica, una luminosa giornata di sole, è diventata teatro di un’ atmosfera pasquale e al contempo festivaliera che ci ha enormemente colpito. Nella forte identità di DGTL risiedono valori cardine della filosofia elettronica: un modello di rispetto verso il prossimo e l’ ambiente rivolti a costruite una piccola comunità in cui comunicazione e scambio, artistico e umano, possano superare le barriere e i confini. Dalla musica all’ arte, dalla techno all’ house l’ ecosistema creato alla NSDM è un luogo di respiro, di verità.

Tra i set che ci hanno particolarmente convinto impossibile non citare il veterano olandese Fatima Yamaha: Bas Bron, nella sua veste più Electro ci regala un set che unisce al sapore nostalgico delle sue hit più famose una nuova prospettiva, sognante e groovy, tra reminiscenze disco e la capacità di costruire ponti tra culture differenti. Dopo di lui l’house contagiosa e irriverente di Folamour e il live imperfettamente malinconico e toccante di Monolink hanno chiuso il Modular Stage.

Rivelazioni? Assolutamente il set di Surusinghe, talento di cui siamo sicuri sentiremo parlare tanto nei prossimi mesi e il serbo X Coast, che uscito dalla rete dei banger e degli edit che lo hanno reso tra i producer sotto la lente d’ingrandimento nel 2024, ha dato prova, nella console del Current, di uno spiccato gusto artistico e di una sapiente rivisitazione contemporanea del rapporto tra pop ed elettronica.

E come non citare gli ultimi due artisti al Frequency: Kenny Dope e Moodymann, due set forse troppo classici per le nuove generazioni ma capaci di farci sognare, perché il passato ha ancora molto da insegnare e tramandare al futuro dell’ elettronica.

Un viaggio quello di DGTL che ci affascina, che ci regala a fine festival una saudade fastidiosa, con l’idea che questo festival abbia nel nostro cuore un posto speciale. Alla prossima!

From April 18th to 20th we have been attending DGTL, the festival that opens the open air season. We share with you our impressions.

From 18 to 20 April 2025, NDSM Docklands in Amsterdam hosted the 13th edition of DGTL Festival, consolidating its position as one of Europe’s leading electronic music events. Located in a former shipyard on the Amstel, the site offers a unique atmosphere, characterized by converted industrial facilities, modern architecture and spectacular views of the river.

The location and concept

DGTL is known for its focus on sustainability and artistic innovation. Every year, the festival features immersive scenography and interactive installations, creating a complete sensory experience. In 2025, the new Current Stage was introduced, dedicated to trance and eurodance sounds, located on the suggestive descent that leads to the river.

Saturday’s lineup: a mix of legends and new promises

This year’s lineup featured a mix of established artists and emerging talents. We can for example mention big players in the electronic music scene like Marcel Dettmann, the Berghain‘s icon who surprised the audience with an exclusive house set, far from his usual techno sounds; Mall Grab, an Australian artist who infused energy and versatility into his set, ranging from house to techno with a personal touch that was engaging for the entire audience; and Moody Mehran who offered an eclectic mix of Chicago house classics and unexpected discoveries. With his broad musical taste and a deep passion for Chicago house, he was able to masterfully mix iconic tracks with surprises, making each set full of emotions and surprises.

And once again, Shanti Celeste’s sonic versatility and impeccable selection gifted us a varied and unexpected Saturday afternoon, with DJ sets that transcended the festival realm to craft, in true DGTL style, an oversized yet deeply felt and immersive clubbing experience for the audience.

Even though it was enough to walk from one stage to another, enjoying the mild climate of the Saturday day, the performances that impressed us the most were those of Daria Kolosova & Dax J who presented a powerful and dynamic set, characterized by pressing rhythms and deep bass; the French duo The Blaze who kept the energy high with a set that then passed the baton to Mano Le Tough to end with the performance of the home artist, Joris Voorn who with his live performance enchanted the audience with melodic house sounds, creating a hypnotic and engaging atmosphere.

It’s really hard to describe in words the emotions and involvement that made this first day of the festival, but we can give an idea from the official DGTL clip for the Saturday recap.

On a bright, sunny Sunday, the day transformed into a vibrant scene blending Easter cheer with festival energy—an experience that truly left us awe-inspired. At the heart of DGTL’s identity lie core values rooted in electronic music philosophy: a commitment to respect for others and the environment, all aimed at building a tight-knit community where communication and exchange—both artistic and human—can break down barriers and transcend borders. From pulsating techno beats to soulful house melodies, the ecosystem cultivated at NSDM is a breath of fresh air—a space of authenticity, connection, and truth.

Among the sets that truly captivated us, it’s impossible not to highlight the Dutch veteran Fatima Yamaha: Bas Bron, in his most electro-inspired guise, delivered a performance that seamlessly blended the nostalgic flavor of his most famous hits with a fresh, dreamy, and groovy perspective—evoking disco reminiscences while building bridges between diverse cultures. Following him, the infectious and irreverent house beats of Folamour, along with Monolink’s imperfectly melancholic and deeply moving live set, brought the Modular Stage to a poignant close.

The revelations? Absolutely, Surusinghe’s set—an artist we are confident will be making significant waves in the coming months. Additionally, the Serbian producer X Coast, who has moved beyond the realm of bangers and edits that brought him into the spotlight in 2024, showcased during his performance at the Current a pronounced artistic sensibility and a sophisticated reinterpretation of the contemporary relationship between pop and electronic music.

And how could we forget the final acts at Frequency: Kenny Dope and Moodymann—perhaps a bit too classic for the new generations, yet capable of making us dream. Because the past still has so much to teach and pass down to the future of electronic music. DGTL’s journey is truly captivating, leaving us with a bittersweet nostalgia at the end of the festival, knowing that this event holds a special place in our hearts. Until next time!
