CIVIC announce new album ‘Chrome Dipped’ & tour, share title track

Australian punks CIVIC have announced their third album, Chrome Dipped, which will be out May 30 via ATO. The album is a bit of a breakout from the sound they had on their first two records, and to help with that they enlisted the talents of maximalist Melbourne neighbor Kirin J. Callinan to produce. “We’ve always done our records DIY,” says vocalist Jim McCullough. “This time we wanted to step up and make it sound as big as we could.”

“We’d been pushing a sort of ’70s Australian punk sound with our first two records, but I think we wanted to take it in a different direction,” says guitarist Lewis Hodgson. “I think it was all starting to feel a bit stale.” You can hear the new direction on Chrome Dipped‘s title track, which the band say is “about finding human emotion and a world that’s hurling towards complete reliance on the machine.”  Watch the video, directed by Marcus Coblyn, below.

CIVIC are playing Punk Rock Bowling over Memorial Day Weekend, and that turns out to be the kickoff to their North American tour, which hits NYC’s TV Eye on June 13. Tickets to all headline shows go on sale Friday, March 21 at 10 AM local time and all dates are listed below.
