Watch DC punk greats Scream’s video for “Tum Tum”; NYC-area shows this weekend
“Tum Tum” is from Scream’s 2023 album ‘DC Special’

DC punk legends Scream have made a video for “Tum Tum” from their 2023 reunion album DC Special. Frontman Pete Stahl says the ska-tinged tune is “a fun story about a young couple and a chance encounter, but it is also a love song to the Flatbush neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, which we have been using as a home base for the last few years.”
Pete continues: “With our album DC Special, we wanted to tell our own stories through collaborations with people in our music community. We made this video in the same spirit. Being new to the area, we wanted to respectfully and honestly represent both our experience here and the energy of the neighborhood. Our little sister Flora Luccini of Maafa and the 1865 connected us to Punk Island organizer Antonio Rodriguez, who helped us find people in the area to play the everyday stars of this story. Local artists and musicians Jason ‘Biz’ Lucas and Morgan Wordlaw play the two main characters. The video was beautifully captured and edited by NY film maker John Pirozzi. We are so grateful for the gift of their talents.”
“The video takes place on a dollar van, which shuttles people up and down different main routes in Brooklyn and Queens not serviced by the subway. This particular route – through the largely Caribbean neighborhood along Flatbush Avenue – bustles a symphony of sights and sounds that we felt fit perfectly with the story and vibe we wanted to communicate. We hope the video and story brings joy and love during these fractured times when personal connections with our neighbors and speaking a lil’ ‘Tum Tum’ can show us a better way forward together.”
