First Trailer: Ethan Coen’s “Honey Don’t”

Focus Features has premiered the first trailer for Ethan Coen’s “Honey Don’t,’ the second film of a thematic trilogy of pulpy lesbian comedies that hail from Coen.

It follows on from his road-trip caper film “Drive-Away Dolls” from last year with much of the team behind that back for this.

Set in Bakersfield, California Margaret Qualley plays a small-town private investigator named Honey O’Donahue who delves into a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church.

The film also features Aubrey Plaza a mystery woman, and Chris Evans as the leader of a cult. Charlie Day and Billy Eichner co-star.

Coen directs from a script written with wife Tricia Cooke, the two films marking his first feature work outside of his collaborations with his brother Joel Coen.

Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Coen, Cooke, and Robert Graf produce. “Honey Don’t” opens in cinemas August 22nd.
