New PlayStation Studio Announced, Fans Already Unimpressed

Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled a new PlayStation Studio, the announcement of which has left players scratching their heads. Called “teamLFG,” the developer has been tasked with making “immersive multiplayer worlds.”

Without reading the full announcement, nearly everyone assumed (us included) that “LFG” in the name was social media lingo, Let’s F****** Go. It turns out, LFG here stands for “Looking For Group” — a common terminology in multiplayer games.

Weird name aside, teamLFG claim that their first game is “a team-based action game that draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games,” leading to a large number of comments on social media and gaming forums asking what “frog-type” is. Not a great start, eh?

But that’s not the only issue players have. The smorgasbord of genres thrown into the mix for teamLFG’s first game has left a lot of people unimpressed.

“Does that scream live service slop to anyone else?” a fan asked on Reddit. “That sounds like a wild combination to press into one game,” a ResetEra user wrote.

TeamLFG has been spun off from Bungie, and is comprised of developers who have worked on franchises like Destiny, Halo, League of Legends, Fortnite, and Roblox, among others.
