16 New Songs Out Today
Listen to new songs by Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Shannon and the Clams, Craig Finn, Lost Under Heaven, Sports Team, Alison Krauss & Union Station, and more.

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
CRAIG FINN – “BETHANY”
“This was the first song I wrote that brought me into the world of this album,” The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn says of “Bethany,” the latest single off his new solo album Always Been. “It’s the first song I showed producer Adam Granduciel when we talked about making a record. It’s the first song we recorded. It’s the first song on the album, which feels right spiritually. It introduces the record’s main character, a guy who became a clergy person without having actual faith, and the aftermath of his fall from grace. When we got the take of this song, I knew we were on track to make something really cool. Adam’s guitar solo still gives me chills.”

SPORTS TEAM – “MAYBE WHEN WE’RE 30”
Sports Team lyricist Rob Knaggs calls “Maybe When We’re 30,” the latest single from their new album Boys These Days, “a song for Brooklyn Beckham. When you start off in a band you feel like Slurms Mackenzie (the Futurama party slug). You can’t believe it’s your job to travel around the world and drink beer and make music with your friends. And then one morning you look around, and all your friends are getting married, and you think, maybe all I really want is to grow old, and get a dog, and write horrible things about Brooklyn Beckham on Facebook, and go on cruises, and have petty disputes with my neighbours about whether the council recycles cardboard.”

KAITLYN AURELIA SMITH – “WHAT’S BETWEEN US”
“This song is about the moment of apprehension before one goes deeper with something / someone… the rush of concern that accompanies a ‘breakthrough,'” Kaitlin Aurelia Smith says of this new song which starts very 8-bit and then goes widescreen. New album GUSH will be out in August.
