From China, a Firefighting Robot Dog
Like others in its field, Chinese robotics company Unitree has been working on humanoid robots. But they've gone back to their dog-bot roots to develop this B2, a firefighting robot dog designed to work alongside humans. The quadruped form factor can easily navigate uneven terrain and climb stairs. Being more compact than a human or humanoid, it can squeeze into tighter spaces. It boasts 360-degree cameras, LiDAR, gas sensors and a self-drenching system to keep dust and heat from fouling its systems. It can be fitted with a hose for spraying duty. Alternatively, it can be attached with a blower for extinguishing smaller blazes.Hot-swappable batteries keep the thing in action. The B2 can operate autonomously or be remote-controlled. While this might seem like a fanciful prototype, it's currently deployed with the Qingdao Firefighting and Rescue Support team.
