When Marvel Studios released their controversial Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal with empty chairs, fans on social media lost their minds. There was far more uproar with the names left out than the ones announced. One of those missing names, Charlie Cox of Daredevil: Born Again, playfully weighed in on his absence to Collider.
“It’s not there, is it? [Laughs] Listen, the way that information gets to us is the same way that it gets to everyone else normally. At least historically, that’s been the case. Someone sent me the link. I looked for my name. It’s not there. So, maybe one day… [Laughs]”
With so many major MCU characters set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, the field is already a bit crowded for what’s to be the first half of a story leading up to Avengers: Secret Wars. Matt Murdock/Daredevil being potentially left out should not come as a surprise given the street-level nature of the incredibly violent Disney+ series. As of this writing, Cox is in production for Season 2 of Born Again in the US while Doomsday kicks off shooting in the UK.
But could there still be time for the Man Without Fear to join forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? Reports suggest that the Doomsday production is fluid with a script constantly being rewritten while cameras roll and unannounced actors still in negotiations to sign on. Other actors like Doctor Stange’s Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed their appearance in the upcoming MCU installment despite having no chair present during the announcement.
While it remains to be seen if Cox’s Daredevil will ever get another big-screen appearance, the actor expressed to the same outlet that he wants another crossover with a certain Wall-Crawler.

“There’s a lot of story to tell with Spider-Man. If you’re going up into the comics in any way, that will always be an itch that needs to be scratched.”
Do you think Cox’s Daredevil is sitting out of Avengers: Doomsday or is he playing the typical Marvel PR game? Let us know in the comments.
