Obi Wan Kenobi Writer Hossein Amini Tapped To Rewrite Clayface For DC Studios

According to a new report Obi-Wan Kenobi writer Hossein Amini has been tapped to rewrite DC Studios Clayface movie. As we learned just recently, Clayface was effectively canned with production ready to go because previous writer Mike Flanagan decided to switch to another project. There were reports the film may be dead. However, I did think the smartest thing to do was hire another writer and push ahead.

Now TheWrap reports that is exactly what is happening with Clayface. 

‘Screenwriter Hossein Amini, best known for scripting 2011’s “Drive” has been tapped to rewrite “Clayface” for DC Studios, TheWrap has exclusively learned.’

‘Mike Flanagan wrote the previous draft of the script. James Watkins, who directed last year’s remake of the Danish thriller “Speak No Evil” for Universal, is attached to direct.’

‘The film will be produced by Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris. The film is scheduled to begin production on October in the U.K.’

So it’s pretty much going as you’d expect. One writer pulls out and another is brought in to complete before production. Of course, given the timescales given above, there’s not much time. If Amini struggles to get the vision right, what then?

It seems DC Studios will stick with a release date for Clayface on Sept. 11, 2026. However, I would not be surprised if that gets delayed at some point, call me a cynic.
