Missing “Avengers: Doomsday” Names Explained

Marvel Studios stole the cultural zeitgeist this past week with its nearly six-hour casting announcement live stream for “Avengers: Doomsday”, which they announced was ‘Now In Production’.

27 set chairs were revealed boasting some actors names that were widely expected, others that weren’t, and notably appeared to be missing some major inclusions like Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Pratt and Mark Ruffalo.

It was quickly revealed this event was just the start with more names to be announced at a later date, prompting plenty of speculation in regards to not just who might be included next time but why they weren’t this time.

In a new report, scooper Daniel Richtman has gone into the latter question, saying Marvel Studios are holding back a bigger reveal for when shooting starts.

He indicates that though production has started, filming has not begun as yet and sets are still very much under construction. He adds: “Filming only starts in April. And they STILL don’t have a [finalised] script.”

So, some of the actor’s deals weren’t quite finished and Marvel understandably didn’t want to share the names of actors who aren’t fully confirmed or signed on to appear as yet.

“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to be released May 2026, with “Avengers: Secret Wars” scheduled to arrive in May 2027.
