Sony Pictures has officially announced that “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-verse,” the third film in the highly acclaimed animated film series, will arrive in cinemas on June 4th 2027.
Made during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation tonight, the film has been teased as “bigger and bolder” than the previous two movies with a whole team dedicated to learning and adopting new animation techniques to bring the story to life.
Producer Phil Lord indicates it kicks off right after the point where the second film ends, with the first footage showing both Milesa and Gwen reuniting, Miles and his Prowler doppelganger fighting, and then the latter two seemingly teaming up.
In addition, the first official artwork from the new film has been released and can be seen below. The filmmakers were on hand in Las Vegas and say they had no plans to rush it, wanting to make sure the ending is worth it:
“We know how important this franchise is to so many people around us. We just could not run it back. So, we decided we needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right… it’s going to be a massive finale to the trilogy.”
Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson are directing the film which will arrive four years after the second film and nine years after the first. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who created the trilogy, are returning to co-write the screenplay.
