Mario Kart World Debuts on Nintendo Switch 2

The first game to be announced as part of the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is Mario Kart World, a new entry in the party racing series. A new trailer that expanded on what was shown as part of the Switch 2 reveal was shared. The game will be exclusive to the new console and will launch on the same day as the Switch 2. The new trailer revealed that the game will allow players to go off-track and explore around the world when not competing in racing. So far, three game modes were shown, with the first one being the original Grand Prix style of competition with various cups available and pre-set circuits. The new Knockout Tour mode requires players to familiarize themselves with the world of the game, as this mode has players racing from different points across the world map, with multiple checkpoints along the way. New traversal options were also shown, such as characters riding on top of rails and even kart wall jumping. Additionally, a Mario Kart World Direct will be held on April 17, 2025 that will offer more information on the game.
