Amazon MGM Studios used its CinemaCon presentation to offer a first look behind-the-scenes of the live-action “Masters of the Universe” film.
According to attendees at the event, a sizzle reel was shown with the cast and crew shown in action, and more importantly in full costume, on some massive sets in the UK where the project has been shooting since January.
All of the He-Man characters were reportedly shown, including Jared Leto as Skeletor though his face was kept hidden by a hood. Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man was seen in “his full blonde glory with his hair blowing in the wind”.
Travis Knight directs the film based on the popular toy line, with the project having the backing of Mattel Films and Escape Artists.
Also starring are Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops.
Knight is directing from a screenplay by Chris Butler based on a story by Aaron Nee, Adam Nee and Dave Callaham. Story specifics are under wraps for now, but the film opens in cinemas next summer on June 5th 2026.
