During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct yesterday, a very unexpected announcement was made. The developers of Elden Ring, FromSoftware, revealed a new video game called The Duskbloods. Even more surprising is the fact that it is exclusive to the upcoming portable console hybrid. While most see this as a welcome surprise, some fans are not very happy with its exclusivity.

PS5 players aren’t happy about FromSoftware’s Duskblood Nintendo Switch 2 exclusivity

The reaction to FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods is maybe a bit overblown. Most of this seems due to the fact that it seemed like a spiritual successor to the beloved PlayStation exclusive Bloodborne. Although there are some minor similarities with its general vibe and look, it does seem pretty different, especially since it is a PvPvE game. That being said, some fans have voiced their displeasure that the upcoming game is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2.

“Yes folks, Bloodborne 2 is coming to the Switch only,” says one fan on the FromSoftware subreddit which has now been deleted. “Going from trapped exclusive to spiritual successor of trapped exclusive is diabolical. Why does it have to be a Switch exclusive? Who benefits from this other than Nintendo?”

“Duskblood being Switch exclusive is bullshit,” says another fan.

Despite the negativity, some fans are genuinely excited for The Duskbloods. However, buying a $450 console is a bit too much to play one game. Some fans are hoping its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusivity is temporary.

“I’m simultaneously excited and disappointed,” says another fan on the Games subreddit. “I’m hoping the exclusivity is temporary.”

The Duskbloods is scheduled to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026. Until then, the platform is getting Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition this year, which packs both the critically acclaimed base game and its sizeable DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. A remaster of Bloodborne, however, remains a pipe dream.
