Disney closed out this year’s CinemaCon with a presentation touting a number of titles beyond the already covered Marvel, “Tron: Ares” and “Predator: Badlands” in other articles.
Whereas some studios included 2026 titles, Disney stuck entirely to its 2025 slate including some of the smaller titles – those hoping for a sneak peek at “The Mandalorian & Grogu” will likely have to wait until Star Wars Celebration in Japan in two weeks time.
The biggest reveal was footage from James Cameron’s “Avatar: Fire & Ash” which begins with the Sully family still living with the Metkayina clan. In footage you see them onboard floating airships traveling across Pandora which come under attack by the Ash people’s flying raiders.
Also shown off were first looks at Peylak (David Thewlis) and Varang (Oona Chaplin) with the latter using some kind of power over fire, while the humans are also back to cause trouble.
New footage from the Disney animation sequel “Zootopia 2” was also shown and sees Detectives Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) sent to partners therapy where a quokka named Dr. Fuzzbee (Quinta Brunson) is treating pairs of mismatched cops.
The pair end up going on holiday to a resort in the marshes – complete with hippos on waterslides. Ke Huy Quan joins the cast as a snake in the film which opens at Thanksgiving.
A trailer for the divorce-themed dark comedy “The Roses” screened, showing Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman at odds along with glimpses of the supporting cast including Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, Belinda Bromilow and Kate McKinnon.
There were also more glimpses at “Lilo & Stitch” and “Freakier Friday,” and first footage from the Springsteen biopic “Deliver Me from Nowhere” and James L. Brooks’ new film “Ella McCay”.
