The Chronicles of Narnia
A report the other day at Nexus Point News indicated that Oscar winner Meryl Streep is in talks to play Aslan the Great Lion in Greta Gerwig’s new “Narnia” film at Netflix.
That report has now been confirmed by the trades who also add that things are not quite at the offer stage yet. Streep is one of several names reportedly up for roles in the project, others including Daniel Craig and Charli XCX, but no-one is officially onboard as yet.
In the novels, Aslan is a talking lion who serves as Narnia’s guardian. In the books and previous adaptations, he’s generally been portrayed as a male – and a pretty blantant Jesus allegory – but the new take will be female. The new film is expected to be an adaptation of “The Magician’s Nephew” which tells the origin of Narnia. [Source: Deadline]
Citizen Vigilante
German filmmaker Uwe Boll has changed the name of his Armie Hammer crime thriller “The Dark Knight” to “Citizen Vigilante” after a “very friendly conversation with Warner Bros.” says Boll along with a “lot of feedback from fans” says executive producer Michael Roesch.
Hammer plays a man who takes justice into his own hands and sets out to hunt down criminals, turning him into a social media sensation. The Croatia-shot film also stars Costas Mandylor as an Interpol officer who aims to bring Hammer’s character down. The film is expected to be locked within the next few weeks. [Source: Variety]
Ghost of Yotei
The follow-up to “Ghost of Tsushima” is reportedly still on track for release this year and now scooper DetectiveSeeds is reporting that multiple sources are indicating that the game’s release date is presently targeting a mid-July to late August window. The new title is set four centuries later, in the early 1600s, which allows for the inclusion of guns.
Henry Johnson
