Rewind Your Mind with Horror VHS Magazine ‘Lunchmeat’ Issue #13

Lunchmeat magazine is back with issue #13, overflowing with 68 pages of horror VHS.

“We’re totally VHStoked to get the new issue out there and continue our Tapehead tradition of producing and preserving physical media, with focus on our favorite format and the best filmmakers and slabs of cinema from the cult underground,” editor-in-chief Josh Schafer tells Bloody Disgusting.

“It’s our thickest, juiciest issue yet, jam-packed with tons of rewind-inclined, VHS-obsessed content from reviews of VHS-only movies, interviews with talented cult and underground filmmakers, and coverage on all kinds of video era ephemera and excitement!”

Here’s what lurks inside its 68 pages:

  • Reviews of radical cult classics and eye-popping obscurities, only available on VHS!
  • An enlightening interview with Jack Perez, director of America’s Deadliest Home Video, an early, untamed and absolutely essential entry in the found footage genre!
  • Scotty Spiegel, the Detroit horror legend, spills his guts on his storied career of moviemaking, love for video stores, the perks of VHS collecting, and much more insider insight galore!
  • Gimme’ Gimme’ Hot Gimmicks: a spectacular exploration of the wide and wild world of VHS marketing gimmicks used throughout the heyday of home video rental and retail!
  • Video Mutants examines the rising wave of analog-driven, modern moviemakers keeping the shot-on-video style and movement alive in contemporary times – featuring interviews with an essential array of analog auteurs with commentary by Ted Gilbert.
  • We invite you to take a Video Vacation in the Post-Apocalypse as we interview Sam J. Jones about his fantastic career and his VHS-only gem Driving Force.
  • Magnetic Mailbag rewinds back to the glory days of collecting VHS by mail-order catalogs in the 80s and 90s, filled with cool facts, fascinating tidbits and rare photos.
  • Wild Finds collects stories from Tapeheads just like you as they recount some of their most memorable experiences diggin’ through the wild and uncovering their favorite slabs.
  • Underground favorite Brian Paulin discusses his impressive and utterly mind-melting career as an immensely talented independent filmmaker spreading his distinct brand of FX heavy video devastation!
  • The Toxic Avenger Takes Over the Video Store remembers the time Troma took over a small NJ video store. Rental store owner Joey Pisani recollects the insanity!
  • Tapeheads Anonymous: Do you have some nagging tape-related troubles? Rotty Rentals is ready with answers to all your analog inquiries.
  • An original illustration from Ted Gilbert celebrating our favorite punk band, monsters, and our appetite for tapes!
