Hot on the heels of Nintendo revealing that its live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film will release in March 2027, further information has been revealed.
A posting on the Film & Television Industry Alliance tracking service Production List indicates the movie is set to shoot in New Zealand starting in November this year and running through to April 2026.
There is also a synopsis of the movie available which indicates the film will follow young warrior Link who is “destined to protect the magical kingdom of Hyrule from the forces of darkness”.
The “land is under threat from Ganon, a ruthless warlord who seeks the Triforce – an ancient relic said to grant limitless power.” To stop him, Link must “embark on a perilous journey, battling monstrous creatures, exploring treacherous dungeons, and solving intricate puzzles to uncover sacred artifacts that can aid him.”
That’s not all though. Industry scooper Daniel Richtman is claiming that Nintendo and Sony Pictures’ plans go beyond that of what’s already been announced. They indicate the companies are planning a potential movie trilogy for the property.
The scooper indicates all major acting roles will be signed for three films planned over six years. Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad will produce the project which is being directed by Wes Ball (“The Maze Runner,” “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”).
