The “new” and much “enhanced” British Airways Executive Club, which has been renamed just as The Club and hastily announced between Christmas and New Year’s, goes live tomorrow.

British Airways has now released short FAQs about what is converted, when, how, and when everything should be settled back to the new and much devalued normal (I am out).

You can access BA here.

BA’s Updated FAQs:

What changes will happen in my British Airways Club account on 1 April 2025?

On 1 April, the new tier point collection year will begin, and we will be switching to our new way of earning tier points and tier levels. To reflect this, we need to make the following updates to members’ accounts:

  • Reset your tier points for the new tier point collection year.
  • Update all members’ accounts to reflect the new membership period (1 April 2025 – 31 March 2026).
  • Update your eligible flight and tier point tracker to show progress towards the new annual thresholds.

As we work through these changes, it may take a few hours to reset your account to the new tier point collection year.

When will my lifetime tier points balance be updated?

Your lifetime tier points will be adjusted to reflect the changes to how tier points are earned from 1 April, and your balance should be updated by the evening of 2 April. You’ll also see a transaction on your statement showing your previous lifetime tier point balance, and the newly converted amount.

Why has my recent flight not appeared on my statement?

Between 31 March and 2 April we’ll be updating your British Airways Club account and it will take longer than usual for any flights you have taken to be awarded. Please allow at least seven days before getting in touch to claim missing Avios or tier points

Can I make a claim for missing Avios or tier points during this time?

Between 31 March and 2 April we’ll be updating your British Airways Club account, and it won’t be possible to claim any missing Avios or tier points. Please allow at least seven days before getting in touch to claim missing Avios or tier points.

Why can’t I see my progress to tier tracker in my account?

You may be temporarily unable to see your progress to tier tracker between 31 March and 1 April 2025 while we update your account.

Can I still make use of my membership benefits while my account is being updated?

Your tier will be unaffected during this time and you will still be able to make use of your benefits and access your digital membership card from the British Airways app.

Can I still use my Avios while my account is being updated?

You can continue to spend Avios in all the usual ways while we update your account.

Will I be able to access the temporarily unavailable information or services if I call the contact centres?

During this transition phase, claims for missing Avios and tier points, as well as tier point balances, will be unavailable both online and through our contact centres. The contact centres will still be happy to help with managing bookings and general enquiries. We will be working hard to make sure the service is resumed as quickly as possible on 2 April, and we thank you for your patience in the meantime.

I booked a flight for travel after 1 April 2025 before I knew about the changes. Will the way I earn tier points change?

For flights booked before 13:00 GMT 30 December 2024 for travel from 1 April 2025, that are marketed by British Airways, American Airlines or Iberia, tier points will be awarded based on a conversion of the previous method.

This means any bookings you made, will earn proportionally the same number of tier points, or more, as expected when you booked.

Examples for flights booked before 13:00 GMT 30 December 2024 for travel after 1 April 2025

London Heathrow to New York booked in Economy (O class):

  • Before 1 April 2025, you would have earned 20 tier points each way
  • From 1 April 2025, we’ll convert this to 267 tier points each way
  • When you fly, you’ll earn tier points based on this converted amount, rather than eligible spend

London Heathrow to Madrid in Club Europe (I class):

  • Before 1 April 2025, you earn 40 tier points each way
  • From 1 April 2025, we’ll convert this to 534 tier points each way
  • When you fly, you’ll earn tier points based on this converted amount, rather than eligible spend

You’ll also earn tier points for any qualifying add-ons purchased as part of your trip.

I booked a British Airways Holidays package booking under the current double tier points offer for travel after 1 April 2025. What tier points will I earn?

We’ve made some changes to the way members earn tier points. These changes affect travel from 1 April 2025 for British Airways Holidays package bookings.

For holidays booked from 13:00 GMT 30 December 2024 with a travel date from 1 April 2025, you’ll earn 1 tier point per pound (£) spent based on the total price of your holiday. Tier points will be evenly split between the number of people on the booking. Members of the travel party who have added a British Airways Club number will receive their tier points after they have completed their trip.

This means members can earn tier points on the flights and hotel or car elements booked as part of a British Airways Holidays package booking, and replaces both the standard and bonus tier points members currently earn against individual flights.

For holidays booked before 13:00 GMT 30 December 2024 for travel from 1 April 2025, tier points will be awarded based on a conversion of the previous method. This means any bookings you made before we announced the changes, including bookings made as part of the British Airways Holidays double tier points offer, will earn proportionally the same number of tier points, or more, as expected when you booked.

Example for a holiday booked before 13:00 GMT 30 December 2024 for travel after 1 April 2025, that was eligible for the previous double tier points offer:

  • London Heathrow to New York booked in Economy (O class)
  • Today you earn 20 tier points each way
  • From 1 April 2025, we’ll convert this to 267 tier points each way, when you fly
  • After your trip, we’ll add a bonus 534 tier points to your account, meaning you’ll earn 1,068 tier points in total for your holiday

Only eligible holidays booked before 13:00 GMT 30 December 2024 for travel completed by 30 June 25 will receive double tier points bonus award.

Conclusion

Knowing how awful BA’s IT is, when half the links are broken, and you usually can’t log into your account on the app or web without having to try a few times first, I have zero doubt that this move from the Executive Club to just a Club will be an utter disaster from an IT perspective.

You should probably take a screenshot of your account status, perhaps even from the most recent transactions, to ensure you can prove your Tier Points standing on March 31st.

I am actually standing at 34,845 lifetime Tier Points right now and will earn 160 from the two flights today. Let’s hope that those post expediently so that I can reach Gold for Life.
