Tomorrow, Season 3 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 begins bringing tons of new content to the popular first-person shooter. Beyond the new multiplayer maps, events, weapons, and modes, there is one setting finally being added that PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players have been asking for.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 adds new PS5 console cross-play settings

The most recent patch notes for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 reveal some new changes happening to console cross-play settings. Starting in Season 3, console players will have more “granular options” for multiplayer Ranked Play, Warzone ranked play, and Multiplayer Unranked modes.

Specifically, players can now choose console-only matchmaking. This means PS5 players can now enable an option that matches them with other console players and not PC players. Players can also choose to restrict matchmaking to just their gaming platform only. As one could imagine, since this will make the player pool smaller, this could negatively impact matchmaking queue times.

There are some caveats to this, but nothing unexpected. There will be moments where players will create a party with different cross-play settings. Depending on the scenario, a different setting may be temporarily adjusted so matchmaking can occur. When the party is disbanded, the preferred matchmaking settings for each respective player will be restored.

As mentioned above, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 3 will feature tons of new content for both multiplayer and Warzone. Arguably, the most exciting addition to this new update is the return of the Warzone’s first map Verdansk. It has been three years since players last dropped into the map.

For multiplayer players, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 adds three new maps to the rotation in the form of Firing Range, Barrage, and Nomad. Additionally, the Close Shave multiplayer perk will be an event reward and allow players to automatically use their Dedicated Melee attack by simply pressing the Melee button.
