It is not a secret that the PS Store is filled with absolute trash games meant to rip off other popular games. Just take a quick gander at the “Games to wishlist” section of the store. One of the most recent cases of this involves the popular co-op horror game REPO.

Will users tricked into grabbing REPO clone get PS Store refunds?

As noted by several PlayStation users in the PlayStation subreddit, some players were duped into purchasing REPO: Ghost Haul. Priced at $9.99, it is clearly using the name of the popular co-op game to lure players into purchasing it without looking into it first. It appears that has been the case with some folks.

Most of the people who purchased the REPO clone went to the PlayStation subreddit to notify other PlayStation users about the clone and to ask if they could receive a refund. Unfortunately, it seems these customers are stuck with their regrettable purchases. Unlike Steam, the PS Store does not give refunds if the game was downloaded.

However, not all hope is lost. Supposedly, there are instances Sony will refund a game for false advertising. REPO: Ghost Haul may fit in that category as it alludes to it featuring multiplayer when it is actually a single-player game. Additionally, it clearly copying another game may help these customers receive a refund.

Shovelware has plagued the PS Store for a long time. While the games themselves are harmless, it becomes more of an issue when games like REPO: Ghost Haul are elevated to front-page status. For instance, one of the PlayStation users who purchased the REPO clone claimed it was at the top of the explore page, so they assumed it was the real game. A recent report from IGN did a deep dive into the issue.
