Avianca, in collaboration with TAP Air Portugal, has opened a VIP lounge at Miami International Airport (MIA). This new premium amenity marks another big step in the airport-wide modernisation of MIA.

Avianca, in collaboration with TAP Air Portugal, has opened a VIP lounge at Miami International Airport – a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub.

“At Avianca, we continue to enhance the travel experience for our passengers,” said Frederico Pedreira, Chief Executive Officer, Avianca. “This new VIP lounge is just the beginning: in 2025, we will open two additional lounges, launch new routes in Business Class Americas, and introduce renewed experiences in Insignia. With this investment, we are reinforcing our focus on comfort, convenience and exceptional service, ensuring travellers enjoy an unforgettable experience while travelling through one of our most important markets, like Miami.”

The investment in the Miami International Airport lounge emphasises Avianca’s strategy to strengthen its connection to the U.S. market, particularly in Miami, which serves as a strategic hub for travellers heading to Latin America.

“Congratulations to our long-time partners at Avianca and TAP Air Portugal on the grand opening of their new lounge,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “This new premium amenity is another big step in the airport-wide modernisation of MIA, which aims to enhance the travel experience, attract global visitors, and strengthen Miami’s position as a premier international gateway.”

The lounge is expected to serve over 16,500 passengers in 2025, considering Avianca’s 249 weekly frequencies across 36 routes to and from the United States.

“Miami is now home to the first TAP VIP lounge outside of Portugal, and its goal is to bring a little bit of Portugal to life in Miami,” said Sofia Lufinha, Customer Service Director, TAP Air Portugal. “Here, with all the comforts of a new Business Class VIP lounge, our customers can enjoy their favourite meals and drinks, including cheeses and pastries like Portuguese pastéis de nata, Portuguese red wine, vinho verde, and port wine. This is all part of TAP’s commitment to providing the most comfortable travel experience for our passengers.”

Designed to provide an exceptional experience, the 6,559-square-foot lounge has a capacity for 337 passengers and 158 seats. Combining contemporary design with ample space, it features quiet zones, business areas, and family spaces, ensuring a welcoming environment for all travellers.

The VIP lounge offers a wide range of food & beverage options, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served throughout the day. The menu includes both hot and cold dishes, Portuguese pastéis de nata pastries, sandwiches, soups, salads, a variety of cheeses, fruits, and bread.

The Miami VIP lounge is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is available to Business Class passengers flying with Avianca and TAP Air Portugal, as well as select Star Alliance travellers.
