L’Eclair Speak Loud On New Single, Innovative Leisure Debut
Swiss sibling duo L'Eclair have set a June 20 release date for their Innovative Leisure debut.

Swiss sibling duo L’Eclair have set a June 20 release date for their Innovative Leisure debut, Cloud Drifter. The group, which formerly proffered exclusively instrumental music, introduce singing (and even rapping) into the mix for the first time on the upcoming project, which is led by the single “ODESSOS.”
The propulsive, danceable song sports vocals from Phoebe Coco and A Ghost Column, while artists such as Pink Siifu, Girl Named GOLDEN, Gelli Haha and INES also make contributions throughout Cloud Drifter. In addition to serving as producers, brothers Stefan and Yavor Lilov also spent time at London’s Total Refreshment Centre to record strings and other orchestral overdubs.

“This demystification of gear, for me personally as a producer, was kind of eye-opening,” Yavor tells SPIN. “I had the chance to see mixers work and create the same sound with a computer that I thought was only possible on tape. That also made me realize that the human aspect is so important in music. Maybe the sound is more compressed and powerful and more in your face, but we still kept some human feeling to it. Nothing is completely on grid.”
Best known as the home of genre-bending jazz group BADBADNOTGOOD, Innovative Leisure previously worked with L’Eclair on the 2021 album Souvenir, on which the quintet backed French composer/producer Frank Maston. Cloud Drifter is the follow-up to 2021’s Confusions, which made inroads in the U.S. in part thanks to a well-received pandemic-era live session for Seattle radio station KEXP.
L’Eclair will celebrate “ODESSOS” with a show in Barcelona on Friday (April 4).
