Cyberpunk fans itching to dive into Storm in a Teacup’s Steel Seed will have to wait a little while longer. Originally scheduled to launch next week, Steel Seed has now been bumped to an April 22 release on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series. The reason for the delay is to “give the talented team behind the game more time to fine-tune both platform adaptation on consoles and game optimisation.”
“Since the game’s announcement, your excitement has been truly inspiring, and we know how much you’ve been looking forward to a deep dive into a dark sci-fi future on all platforms,” says Ilia Svanidze, Head of Marketing of ESDigital Games. “That’s why we want to be completely open with you: We encountered some technical hurdles related to platform adaptation when running our platform certification tests. Rather than rushing the console release and risking a potentially substandard console user experience that requires swift patching, we have made the difficult, but necessary decision to delay the launch.”
Svanidze continued, stating that the team’s goal is to ensure that all players, regardless of platform, enjoy a polished and seamless experience.
From the team that brought you Close to the Sun, Steel Seed takes place in a dark sci-fi world where humanity stands on the brink of extinction. After a catastrophic event rendered Earth uninhabitable, machines took control of the remnants of humanity’s survival. The underground facility is a vast, machine-built structure designed for machines — not humans. Zoe and her flying drone companion, KOBY, must investigate the depths of the underground facility in search of answers and the key to the survival of mankind.
