Severance star Britt Lower has received an enthusiastic response from fans after playing the show’s theme tune on the trumpet.
She appeared on last night’s (April 1) episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, discussing the success of the series, in which she plays the pivotal character of Helena Eagan / Helly R.
Toward the end of the interview, a famous scene from the second season involving a marching band was brought up. Lower revealed that she played trumpet in her High School marching band, balancing it with other extracurricular activities such as basketball and cheerleading.
Fallon then produced a trumpet and invited her to play the Severance theme tune, alongside in-house band The Roots. The actor replied: “So I have this deal with myself that if someone asks me to do something that frightens me, I have to do it. Nothing physically dangerous, just (something) that might bruise my ego.”
With that in mind, she accepted the offer and explained that she had brushed up on her skills thanks to a lesson on YouTube. “I’m sorry to my neighbours, because trumpets are loud,” she said of the practice. She then performed with the band, to rapturous applause from the studio audience.
That reception echoed online, with many praising Lower for her versatility. “Most fascinating human being on earth I love her deeply,” posted one user on X (formerly Twitter), while another added: “She is definitely my favourite person in the world right now.”
