The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) stars as an insomniac faced with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence in Lionsgate’s Hurry Up Tomorrow. Lionsgate debuted a new trailer at CinemaCon today, giving a fresh look at the psychological madness ahead.

The psychological thriller releases exclusively in theaters on May 16.

Watch the new trailer below.

In Hurry Up Tomorrow, “A musician plagued by insomnia is pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.”

Directed by Trey Edward Shults (Waves, It Comes at Night), the upcoming thriller stars Abel Tesfaye, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan. Trey Edward Shults & Abel Tesfaye & Reza Fahim wrote the screenplay.

While the psychological thriller may be The Weeknd’s feature star role, the artist is no stranger to the realm of horror. In 2022, multi award-winning artist joined forces with Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights for the first time ever to inspire all-new, terrifying haunted houses based on his record-breaking “After Hours” album.

The new movie will be an extension of The Weeknd’s sixth studio album of the same title that debuted in January, which will stand alongside the film’s score by The Weeknd and Daniel Lopatin. The album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, is now available to stream/download. You can also watch the music video for the new single “Open Hearts” now. The project also represents the conclusion to The Weeknd’s artistic trilogy, completing the journey that began with albums After Hours and Dawn FM.

Lionsgate’s Adam Fogelson previously teased, “Abel is a visionary whose art cannot be confined by any single medium. With Hurry Up Tomorrow, in partnership with Trey, his musical universe expands onto the big screen with a psychological thriller that will usher in a new cinematic experience for fans. We are thrilled to be bringing it to audiences worldwide.”

Hurry Up Tomorrow has been rated “R” for “language throughout, drug use, some bloody violence and brief nudity.”
