Underrated PS4 Gem Getting Free PS5 Remaster for Existing Owners

Today, Frogwares announced it is remastering one of its underrated gems. The Sinking City Remastered is built in Unreal Engine, 5 and implements several upgrades to the 2019 release. There is also a solid bonus for those who already own the PS4 version.

Frogwares announced The Sinking City Remastered for PS5 will be free for existing owners of the PS4 version. This upgrade is also available for PC and Xbox Series X|S players. Here is a full list of upgrades and features players can expect from the upcoming rerelease:

• Game fully relit in Unreal Engine 5
• Enhanced locations with additional levels of detail and objects
• 4K textures and improved reflections
• Addition of a Photo Mode
• Support for DLSS, FSR, and TSR upscaling

A release date for The Sinking City Remastered has yet to be announced. However, the announcement stated it is “coming soon.”

The Sinking City was originally released back in 2019 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Upon launch, the Frogwares game was reviewed decently. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 71 across 47 critic reviews.

“The Sinking City is an adventure and investigation game set in an open world inspired by the universe of H.P. Lovecraft, the master of Horror,” reads the game’s subscription. “The half-submerged city of Oakmont is gripped by supernatural forces. You’re a private investigator, and you have to uncover the truth of what has possessed the city… and the minds of its inhabitants.”

Last year, Frogwares announced it had become the sole publisher of The Sinking City on all platforms. Shortly after that announcement, the company officially revealed The Sinking City 2, which is slated to launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this year.
