Skrillex has just dropped a new album, titled ‘F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3’, and it contains 34 tracks including collaborations with 100 gecs’ Dylan Brady, Boys Noize and more.
The surprise album, shortened to just ‘FUS’, dropped today (April 1), but is not an April Fool’s joke. It also features Wuki, jamesjamesjames, swedm®, Varg2 and Starrah amongst many more.
News of ‘F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3’ was first announced just a day before its release, with the DJ and producer – real name Sonny Moore – writing on Instagram: “OUT TOMORROW”, alongside a clip of a brand new track.
Today, he posted the album’s artwork with the caption: “F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!!<3. Thank you to all my friends who took part in creating this moment.”
The whole project comes in at just under 50 minutes long, and it is his first solo album since the 2023 double ‘Quest For Fire/Don’t Get Too Close’. Listen to it below.
‘FUS’ arrives just a few months after the musician shared plans on X to “go independent” after his next release with Atlantic. “I’ve never felt more inspired and in lockstep with my intentions as an artist. As im nearing completion of my next work and my final project for Atlantic records I can’t help but feel very existential about it all,” he began.
He added: “I’m thrilled to get this out and focus on more release in 25 as an ‘independent’ artist. But ‘independent’ is such a strange term because I still depend on my team as well as all the other creatives and executors to do what I do.”
In a separate tweet, he wrote: “But now I’m able to rethink/relook at how the structures are designed. I want to find ways to simplify decimating music and art. I see lots of artist in a constant panic.
“The industry is like politics, it’s designed to be almost impossible for I understand. I’ve seen so many artist get caught up in the illusion and delusion of the business. It’s a dangerous job to be a young artist.”
He added that he is “blessed and lucky” to have lived through what he has lived in his career and promised that he will continue to “do my best as an artist and just make things that provoke beauty and emotion.”
In other Skrillex-related news, this weekend the electronic musician performed at Ultra for the first time in 10 years and brought out a number of special guests such as Damian Marley, Young Niko and NAISHA. He played classic tracks including ‘Where Are Ü Now’, ‘Bangarang’, ‘Scare Monsters And Nice Sprites’ and more.
