Apple’s “Severance” Renewed For Season 3

It’s official, Apple TV+ has renewed its critically acclaimed workplace sci-fi/mystery thriller “Severance” for a third season.

The news comes just hours after the show’s second season finale was released to the streamer and ending the current season’s ten-episode run.

Through the first six episodes of the second season, Nielsen reports that the show has racked up around 61.33 million viewing hours in the U.S. alone – only the third season of “Ted Lasso” has pulled in better numbers.

Apple TV+ is a global SVOD service, and both in the U.S. and worldwide “Severance” has emerged as the streamer’s most watched drama series to date – but Apple hasn’t provided any figures.

Series creator, writer and executive producer Dan Erickson said in a statement:

“The idea of getting to make more Severance with the greatest cast and crew on Earth is more thrilling to me than all the world’s finger traps combined. I can’t wait to continue spreading woe, frolic, dread and malice with these truly incredible people.”

Due to the strikes causing delays and some behind-the-scenes turmoil, the second season premiered almost three years after the conclusion of the first. Promoting the new season recently, those involved have indicated that a third season should come much faster.

Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson star in the series.
