Yahya Abdul-Mateen II To Play “Ghostman”

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s production company House Eleven10 has signed a multi-year first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television.

The deal will see the Emmy-winning “Aquaman” and “Watchmen” actor produce scripted drama series for streaming and cable, with the first project already set – “Ghostman”.

The show will be an adaptation of the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Roger Hobbs. In the novel, The Ghostman is the name of a man who specializes in making things disappear.

When a botched casino heist leaves millions in cash up for grabs, he has just 48 hours to clean up the mess – while staying ahead of someone who wants him dead.

The news comes ahead of two high profile TV series launches in the coming year in which the actor plays the lead role.

One is Netflix’s new take on “Man on Fire” based on the first two novels in A.J. Quinnell’s book series. The work was previously adapted by Tony Scott into a Denzel Washington-led film.

The other is Marvel Studios’ “Wonder Man” series which will see him pairing up with Sir Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery for what appears to be a kind of meta-comedy making fun of showbusiness and Marvel’s own fare.
