Mogwai documentary ‘If the Stars Had a Sound’ coming to theaters & streaming in April (NYC screening with band Q&A)

Mogwai begin their North American tour on April 7 in Washington DC, and concurrently, new documentary Mogwai: If the Stars Had a Sound will premiere in theaters on April 9 before hitting digital/on-demand on April 11. Here’s the synopsis:

Over 25 years and 10 studio albums—using brute sonic force mixed with subtlety and grace— Mogwai have defined their own musical genre and built a loyal following by staying true to their sound and true to their roots. The film takes us on a journey from their very beginnings, in the mid 1990s, to the band writing and rehearsing their tenth studio album in their hometown of Glasgow, Scotland in 2020 – a record made during lockdown. While at first seemingly impossible to make, they ultimately made history with it.

There is a special NYC screening of If the Stars Had a Sound at IFC Center on April 9 which features a Q&A between the band and legendary producer Arthur Baker (who appears in the film). Tickets will be on sale soon.

That NYC screening is one day before Mogwai play Brooklyn Steel on April 10 with Brainiac and Ye Gods. All dates are listed below.
