fallfiftyfeet announce new LP ‘Counterfeit Recollections,’ share title track

fallfityfeet kicked the year off with the great new single “Running from the Sky” and a tease that suggested the followup to their 2021 debut LP Twisted World Perspective was finally on the way. Then they released the second new single “Purgatory Blues” in February, and now they’ve finally announced their sophomore album. It’s called Counterfeit Recollections, it’s due out May 2, and along with the announcement comes the third single and title track.

Opening with a clean-sung hook, “Counterfeit Recollections” is instantly one of the catchiest songs fallfiftyfeet have ever released, in sort of a post-Glassjaw, 2000s post-hardcore kind of way. But before you think they’ve abandoned their usual chaotic metalcore, the pendulum swings all the way back to the other side as “Counterfeit Reflections” turns into something bone-crushing and discordant. It’s a great song with a compelling Eric DiCarlo-directed performance video, and here’s what guitarist/clean-vocalist James Becca says about it:

I wrote my parts to this song in the parking lot at work on smoke break. Thinking about how all I could do was just stare out into the clouds, trying to find a second of peace from everything that surrounded me on the ground. Not only a stressful job that eats at your soul, but the concrete and the smog and all the ugly that you can’t look away from. At least if you look up you can look away from the earth that we’ve taken for granted so badly.
