Zamrock greats WITCH announce new album, share “Queenless King”

Zamrock pioneers WITCH (aka W.I.T.C.H.) have announced new album SOGOLO that will be out June 13 via Partisan Records. The album was produced by Dutch wunderkind and current WITCH member Jacco Gardner who seems to have a real handle on how to translate the band’s iconic psych/funk sound to today under the guidance of frontman Emmanuel ‘Jagari’ Chanda.

“As we embark on this new album, we invite you to join us on a transformative journey that embodies our core ethos as a band: the relentless pursuit of artistic evolution” says keyboardist Patrick Mwondela who has been with WITCH since the ’80s. “Gathering at [2023 reunion album] Zango was not just a moment in time; it was a pivotal experience that fueled our creativity and ignited our passion to push boundaries. This album is a reflection of that spirit—an exploration of new frontiers, where every note and lyric is a step into the unknown. We believe that music is a living, breathing entity that grows and changes, just as we do”.

The first single from the album is “Queenless King,” a song about “the perils of marrying badly” that is pure WITCH groove. Watch the video below.
