Wings Hauser, a prolific character actor and father of Yellowstone star Cole Hauser, has passed away aged 77 of natural causes, his wife confirmed.
Across nearly six decades in the industry, Hauser appeared on the small screen in classics such as Murder She Wrote, The A-Team, and Beverly Hills 90210. His most recent appearances were on crime shows The Mentalist and Criminal Minds.
In film, his highest profile role was as a tobacco lawyer in 1999’s The Insider, which starred Russell Crowe and Al Pacino. In 1991 article by Entertainment Weekly, he was described as “the biggest star you never heard of”, do to his prolific appearances in independent films.
He is survived by his wife, Cali Lili Hauser, as well as his children Bright and Cole. Cole Hauser is best known for playing Rip Wheeler in the drama Yellowstone.

“Born in Hollywood, proud Academy member and prouder son of Academy Award winning writer, director, producer Dwight A. Hauser and loving mother Geraldine T. Hauser, Wings Hauser’s one of a kind, legendary career spanned 58 years in movies, tv & music working alongside many of the greatest artists in the industry and earning their respect”.
The post went on to ask fans that in lieu of cards and flowers, for fans to support the couple’s ongoing projects, which include a production company and a marine life and butterfly animal sanctuary.

Bright Hauser posted on Facebook: “We celebrate the life of a man who lived with intensity, passion, and an undeniable presence—Gerald ‘Wings’ Hauser. He was more than just an actor; he was a force of nature, a storyteller, and an artist who left an indelible mark on the screen and in our hearts”.
She concluded: “Dad your journey here may have ended, but your presence will never fade. Rest easy, and may your next adventure be just as bold as the life you led. I love you”.
