Third “Shaun the Sheep” Film In The Works

Aardman Animations and StudioCanal announced on Wednesday that a third “Shaun the Sheep” film is in the works, this one to be titled “Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom”.

The new film sees the residents of Mossy Bottom Farm looking forward to Halloween – until the clumsy Farmer trashes the flock’s beloved pumpkin patch.

When Shaun turns mad scientist to fix the problem, things rapidly spiral out of control… With The Farmer missing and a wild beast roaming the woods of Mossingham, all the ingredients are in place for a monstrously fun family adventure.

“Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas” director Steve Cox and writer Giles Pilbrow return in the same capacities here, joined by Aardman veteran Mark Burton (“Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” “Paddington in Peru”) as co-writer and Matthew Walker (“Lloyd of the Flies”) as co-director.

Sky will be the U.K. distributor while StudioCanal will handle global distribution outside the UK. The same arrangement was used by “Shaun the Sheep Movie,” and “A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmaggedon”.

Richard Beek produces while Nick Park, Peter Lord, Carla Shelley, and Sarah Cox executive produce.

The first two films scored Oscar nominations for Best Animated Film along with rave reviews. Aardman is coming off “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl” which last Christmas became the most-watched animated film broadcast on British television since modern viewing records began in 2002.
