Andrew Garfield Would Return As Weird Spider-Man

Appearing at the Middle East Film & TV Comic-Con in Abu Dhabi this weekend, actor Andrew Garfield revealed (via ET Bilarabi) that he’s open to return as Spider-Man again in some capacity – so long as it’s weird.

The actor played the role across two “The Amazing Spider-Man” films in the early 2010s and then reprised the role for 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” alongside other Spidey film actors like Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire.

Here he explains what would entice him back:

“I would love to play the character again in some capacity, but I think it would have to be very weird. I think I would like to do something very strange, I would want to do something very unique, and offbeat and surprising.”

Kind of like the creative freedom that they have with the animated Spider-Verse movies. I think they’re so great, and you can honor the character in so many different ways.”

The comments follow on from several months ago when he revealed to GQ that he’s being much more selective with future projects and that it “doesn’t feel right any more” to “keep doing the same thing”.

He denied participating in the upcoming “Spider-Man 4” in that interview and says he’s well aware “no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on” after he had to deny his involvement in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
