Discover checking account promo: Existing account holders direct deposit $200 & earn $25 bonus

Targeted emails went out to Discover checking account holders last week giving the opportunity to earn $25 bonus cashback when setting up direct deposit and having at least $200 deposited.

The Deal

• Set up a $200+ direct deposit to a targeted Discover Cashback Debit account & get a $25 bonus.

Key Terms

• You must set up a qualifying direct deposit (“Qualifying Deposit”) into your Cashback Debit account from a payor that has never credited the account.
• A Qualifying Deposit is (i) funds from a salary, pension, or government benefits from a business, government entity, or other organization; (ii) initiated via Automated Clearing House (ACH) at another financial institution; (iii) processed as a Prearranged Payment and Deposit Entry (PPD) transaction – as defined by the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) – which is generally associated with direct deposits (for example, most recurring payroll payments are processed as PPD transactions); and (iv) a singular deposit of at least $200.
• Deposits made by an individual using online banking or Peer-to-Peer (P2P) payments (such as Apple Pay Cash, Venmo, Zelle and PayPal), deposits from rideshare companies, and food ordering & delivery companies do not qualify.
• The Qualifying Deposit must post to the account by 6/13/25 11:59 PM ET to qualify for the bonus.
• Maximum bonus eligibility is $25. Offer is valid only for targeted account and is non-transferable.
• Account must be open when bonus is credited; account will be credited no later than 7/14/25.
• Bonus is subject to reporting on Form 1099-INT.
• Offer ends 6/13/25 11:59 PM ET and may be modified or withdrawn without notice.
• Please note, it may take up to 2 payment cycles to receive a new direct deposit in your account.

Quick Thoughts

If you don’t mind switching up the payment bank for your direct deposit, this is an easy $25 to be had if you have a targeted Discover Cashback Debit account.

Even if you don’t want to go to that level of effort, it might still be easy to make a $200+ deposit that qualifies for the bonus. Doctor of Credit has a list of data points for Discover, although one notable mention on their list is listed by Discover as being excluded, so it might be that that option doesn’t work.
