WPGM Previews: Lollapalooza Berlin 2025

This year one of Germany’s biggest music festivals, Lollapalooza Berlin, celebrates its 10-year anniversary, as well as 10 years of music, sustainability and community. The first Lollapalooza ever took place in Chicago back in 1991, but quickly became a global sensation and attracted international attention.

In 2015, Berlin became the first city in Europe to host its own Lollapalooza, with superstars like Macklemore and Sam Smith, who just returned last year. The festival was originally hosted at the Tempelhofer Feld which was Berlins former airfield but it has moved over to the Olympic Stadium and Park which offer more appropriate facilities and logistics for the artists and large crowds.

This year the two-day festival will take place on the weekend of the 12th and 13th July, which is unusual, since Lollapalooza Berlin typically happens in September. The organizer states that the reason behind this is the number of international artists touring Europe in summer. 10 years of Lollapalooza Berlin will be celebrated with a very diverse line up including international world stars and pop giants as well as newcomers and local favourites.

On Saturday, Justin Timberlake will make his return to Berlin as headliner of Lollapalooza Berlin. On the same day, singer and songwriter Gracie Abrams, who recently opened at Taylor Swifts ‘The Eras’ tour but also toured across the Globe herself with ‘The Secret of Us’ tour, DJ Armin van Buuren and the UK band The Last Dinner Party will be taking the different stages at the Olympic Stadium and Olympic Park.

On Sunday, music fans are excited to see US newcomer Benson Boone, who just had his breakthrough last year with his single “Beautiful Things” live at Lollapalooza Berlin. On top of that, British R&B singer-songwriter Raye, Berlin-based band Brutalismus 3000, multi-talented country artust Shaboozey and alternative/indie band Royel Otis will be playing a set on July 13.

In 2025 Lollapalooza Berlin includes two k-pop acts, BTS member J-Hope and girlgroup Ive, into their line-up after hosting Seventeens first European show last year and giving European k-pop fans the opportunity to see their idols live without travelling the world.

But Lollapalooza Berlin is not just about music. They offer different, so called experience areas, which focus on sustainability, fashion and activities for children.

This year Lollapalooza is not just celebrating their 10th anniversary, at The Grüne Kiez, they are also celebrating planet earth. At The Grüne Kiez 2025 revolves around environmental protection & sustainability, living together & social commitment, anti-racism & benevolent coexistence. Festival visitors can get an organ donation tattoo, run in banana costumes for more sustainability and donate their clothes for people in need.

At FASHIONPALOOZA, visitors can discover upcoming labels, the latest trends and exclusive beauty products by Lollapalooza Berlin’s brand partners from the fashion and beauty industry.

Lollapalooza’s youngest visitors can dive into a fantasy world, full of music, theatre, sports and different workshops right next to the mainstage at KIDZAPALOOZA. Here children’s music, thrilling interactive stories, exciting performances, and countless fun play stations await the youngest festival fans, with or without their parents.

If you choose to attend Lollapalooza’s 10 years birthday party put on your party hats and show off your best dance moves to celebrate a decade of unforgettable moments, groundbreaking performances, and a vibrant sense of community.
