Peacock is developing a new “Clueless” follow-up TV series, one in which Alicia Silverstone is attached to reprise her iconic role as Cher Horowitz.

CBS Studios and Universal Television are producing the project, but specifics beyond Silverstone’s return are being kept under wraps.

In the original, Silverstone plays a rich and socially successful girl at the top of the Beverly Hills high school’s pecking order. She gives klutzy new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) a makeover, Tai becomes more popular than she is in the process. Paul Rudd plays her ex-stepbrother and ultimate love interest.

What is known is that Silverstone is set to executive produce alongside Robert Lawrence and original film director Amy Heckerling. Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Jordan Weiss are writing the project and also executive producing.

This won’t be the first “Clueless” TV series – that was an ABC/UPN sitcom which ran for three seasons in the late 1990s and saw actors Stacey Dash, Donald Faison and Elisa Donovan return.

This new take is not related to another take back in 2020 that Peacock was developing and abandoned. That version saw Cher disappearing and Dionne (Dash) investigating what happened.
