Studio Ghibli 40th Anniversary Re-Release Slate
GKIDS and Fathom Entertainment have announced the limited theatrical re-release of eight acclaimed animated movies as part of the annual Studio Ghibli Fest 2025 that celebrates the famed studio’s 40th anniversary this year. GKIDS and Fathom Entertainment have announced the limited theatrical re-release of eight acclaimed animated movies as part of the annual Studio Ghibli Fest 2025 that celebrates the famed studio’s 40th anniversary this year.
The limited theatrical event will start in May and run through until November and will include works from Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Hiromasa Yonebayashi.
On the list are multiple masterpieces like “Spirited Away,” “Grave of the Fireflies,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Ponyo”.
Fathom Events will be handling the screening which will shot the films in both original Japanese and English dubbed versions and will include surprise special extra content as well.

GKIDS recently re-released “Princess Mononoke” in IMAX so its absence here isn’t surprising, though the absence of acclaimed early works like “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” and “Castle in the Sky” has been noted.
