Levy’s Star Wars Titled Starfighter Plus Darth Maul Animated Series | Celebration

Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie is titled Star Wars: Starfighter and stars Ryan Gosling, plus a Darth Maul animated series announced at Celebration. Today is the first day of Celebration and Lucasfilm had a few announcements to make. We’ll start with the big one.

Star Wars: Starfighter

Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter will be the next movie to film from the GFFA. Obviously we have known this film was coming but with no title till now. We also had no idea what era this was set in, but now we know.

Starfighter will take place 5 years after The Rise of Skywalker. Therefore, given the in development Rey Sequel, this would mark the first film of the New Jedi Order era. Or, it could sit between the First Order era and the NJO era.

Though we have rumors, see below we have no other casting details as yet.

Star Wars: Starfighter arrives in theatres on May 28, 2027.

“Star Wars: Starfighter,” which will be directed by Shawn Levy and star Ryan Gosling, is a standalone adventure taking place approximately five years after the events of 2019’s “Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.” The film, which will begin production this Fall, is an entirely new adventure featuring all-new characters set in a period of time that has not been explored on screen yet.

Maul – Shadow Lord

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is an animated series for Disney+ and stars Sam Witwer once again voicing the former Sith Apprentice during his gang lord era. The series is in production now and audiences at Celebration got a sizzle reel.

Maul – Shadow Lord will debut on Disney+ some time in 2026. We also have a one line synopsis.

After the Clone Wars, Maul plots to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. 

There were rumors of this as a live-action show once upon a time. I imagine it eventually transitioned in animated, which I think is better for this character and period.

Finally, for the little ‘uns out there, Lucasfilm also announced Young Jedi Adventures Season 3. The new season of the young kid aimed show will hit Disney+ and Disney Jr. this Fall.
