Keanu To Play Villain In The Weezer Film

Keanu Reeves will reportedly star as a villain in the mysterious Weezer movie announced last week.

The famed band officially announced the project during their performance at last weekend’s Coachella festival with songwriter and guitarist Rivers Cuomo telling the crowd they had been working on “the Weezer movie”.

However word on the film was already out there late last year with the band seeking people to participate in the filming of a fight scene.

Now, The InSneider reports that several high-profile actors will star in the film with Reeves appearing as the villain. Also said to be onboard are the likes of Ben Schwartz, Johnny Knoxville, Juliette Lewis and Eric Andre, with each expected to appear as themselves.

Sneider also indicates that Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the directors of the third and fourth “Paranormal Activity” films, are helming the project that is “a concert movie that doubles as a mockumentary”.

The parts outside the concert unfold in a “heightened reality” that is a blend of “‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ and ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story'”. No word on any potential dates as yet.
