A secret cameo for James Gunn’s “Superman” has leaked online following another recent test screening and is already being widely discussed online without spoiler warnings.

It began last night when The Insneider posted a report saying the recent screening of the film involved loud applause for a cameo in the movie, an appearance that apparently takes place only during the first few minutes of the film.

Sneider didn’t say who it was, but prior to this report there was speculation a ‘big’ name actor was up for the role of Superman’s father Jor-El – a role that’s hardly a surprise for a Superman movie. Just who the actor playing him could be has been entirely unclear, one wild rumor suggesting that it’s Tom Cruise (it’s not).

Then scoopers DanielRPK and MyTimeToShineH also weighed in on the screening, the former saying people “loved it” while the latter says the response was “decidedly mixed”.

Then came scooper ViewerAnon who revealed the name on a Reddit thread this evening with superhero news outlets quickly pouncing on it and spreading the news without warnings. Click here if you want to know who they’re talking about (and whether they actually qualify as a ‘big’ name).

It’s expected the next trailer for “Superman” could arrive as early as next week with the release of “Minecraft” in cinemas as IMAX screenings of the film are expected to have new footage from the movie in front of it.
