It has been rumored for a while, but only recently has talk of Bethesda’s remaster of the 2006 Game of the Year “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” become concrete.
Following some leaked screenshots, the company announced yesterday it would pull back the curtain on the project today. Some hoped for at least a trailer, what we got was the entire game itself being released this morning.
“The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered” modernizes the title with new stunning visuals and refined gameplay allowing for the exploration of Tamriel and the Cyrodiil province in a whole new way.
Made in co-operation with Virtuos, the game has been fully rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 with a total graphical overhaul, with handcrafted details of ever single asset having been meticulously recreated from scratch.
The game also has completely reanimated lip syncing based on the original performance capture data. The levelling system has also changed, new lines of dialogue have been recorded, and the various races now have unique voices.
In addition, all the previously released story expansions like Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and more are included with the game, while a deluxe edition version has extra weapons and horse armour.
“The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered” is now out on PC, Xbox Series X|S (including Game Pass), and PlayStation 5 for around $50 US dollars.
