Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has announced that Richard Donner’s original 1987 action feature “Lethal Weapon” is coming to 4K for the first time with a newly restored print.
The title will officially be available for purchase digitally in 4K Ultra HD and on 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc starting on June 24th. Both releases will include the 1987 theatrical version (110mins) and the 2000 Director’s Cut (117mins) with both versions undergoing the new restoration.
The film will be in HDR10 with a DOLBY ATMOS AUDIO TRACK, plus DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track on the Theatrical Version. There’s also two featurettes, one about Donner and the other about the star’s chemistry.
Mel Gibson stars as Martin Riggs, a Los Angeles policeman and one-man killing machine who recently lost his wife and has been acting increasingly unstable.
Danny Glover plays by-the-book homicide detective Roger Murtaugh with an impeccable record and a loving family.
The two are stuck with each other as partners, investigating a suicide that leads to an international crime ring and ever-increasing danger. Gary Busey, Mitchell Ryan, Tom Atkins, Darlene Love, and Traci Wolfe co-starred while Shane Black penned the film’s script.
