One Step Closer share new song “Jinx” ahead of tour with Magnitude, Stateside, etc

After taking their sound in a more melodic direction on last year’s All You Embrace, One Step Closer are back with more where that came from, “Jinx.” Like the LP, the new song was produced by Jon Markson, and it’s a soaring post-hardcore/grunge hybrid that shares some DNA with The Things We Think We’re Missing-era Balance & Composure. Here’s what guitarist Ross Thompson says about the music video:

I was inspired by director Andrei Tarkovsky: come up with a strange concept and make it look pretty. My goal was that if you paused the video at any moment you could print it out and hang it on your wall. Just make a pretty video with my pretty friends. This was all done within two weeks. Three days of filming (one day, one half day, then four hours) and then the rest was editing. I made the first rough draft in iMovie as the demo then my friend Layne who also shot it translated everything into Premiere. This was a group effort and fun project to work on with all the homies.

The song comes just ahead of OSC’s previously-announced headlining tour, on which they’ll have a tour-exclusive CD mixtape (including “Jinx”) and a 20-page zine made by the band. Support comes from Magnitude, Bleed, Stateside, Footballhead, World of Pleasure, and Ends of Sanity, varying by date, including a Brooklyn show on June 14 at Meadows with Magnitude, Stateside, and Footballhead.
