The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) makes his feature debut on the big screen in the upcoming horror movie Hurry Up Tomorrow, and the film has received its official MPA rating this week.

Lionsgate’s Hurry Up Tomorrow has been rated “R” for “language throughout, drug use, some bloody violence and brief nudity.” The film releases in theaters on May 16, 2025.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from Lionsgate: “A musician plagued by insomnia is pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.”

Directed by Trey Edward Shults (Waves, It Comes at Night), Hurry Up Tomorrow features Abel Tesfaye, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan, exclusively in theaters on May 16.

Trey Edward Shults & Abel Tesfaye & Reza Fahim wrote the screenplay.

The Weeknd’s new album, which is also titled Hurry Up Tomorrow, is now available to stream/download. You can also watch the music video for the new single “Open Hearts” now.

While Abel Tesfaye has acted in recent projects including Uncut Gems and the HBO series “The Idol,” the upcoming movie notably marks the singer’s feature debut on the big screen.
