TheSkimm, the millennial women-focused digital media company that started as a daily newsletter in 2012 before growing into a small digital media empire, has been acquired by Ziff Davis’ Everyday Health Group.
Founded by Danielle Weisberg and Carly Zakin, The Skimm currently has approximately 5 million subscribers across its various email products. The company, which now publishes multiple newsletters and podcasts and sells consumer products, has raised $28.4 million since launch. The company does not make yearly financial numbers public but according to Axios, in 2019 TheSkimm brought in $20 million.
The co-founders will remain with theSkimm, but financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The brand has had notable entertainment investors, including Shonda Rhimes, Tyra Banks and Willow Bay, as well as Goldman Sachs and Google Ventures.

We’re thrilled to join forces and see the impact we can achieve together.”

TheSkimm’s newsletters have expanded, including the Daily Skimm, Daily Skimm: Weekend, Skimm Money, Skimm Your Life, Skimm Well, B2B marketer’s newsletter The SKM Report in addition to the “9 to 5ish with theSkimm” and “WellPlayed” podcasts.
