Legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been announced as the latest fighter to join the roster of the new Fatal Fury game.
The original Fatal Fury: King Of Fighters was released back in 1991 and spawned a number of spin-offs and sequels. Due for release April 24, Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves is the first new entry in the iconic series for 26 years, following on from 1999’s Mark Of The Wolves.
Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves “features a unique art style that stimulates the senses and an innovative REV System that supercharges the excitement. Here, at long last, a new legend is about to unfold,” reads the game’s Steam listing.
22 characters will be available at launch, including 17 classic fighters, but developers SNK Corporation have also confirmed footballer Cristiano Ronaldo will be available as a fully-playable character.
“Big news to share with everyone today! I’m going to be a character in the new fighting game Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves! Let’s have some fun on April 24th,” Ronaldo wrote on social media, alongside a new teaser trailer for the game.

According to the Fatal Fury website, Cristiano Ronaldo “uses his time off to visit South Town to hone his new football skills. The various techniques he has developed playing football make him an unstoppable force, even to seasoned fighters,” while his fighting style is a mix of football and martial arts.
“I’ve been cackling hysterically at this for the past 10 minutes. This has to be the most insane guest character pick ever conceived,” one fan wrote on X. “I don’t think people understand that this is quite literally the greatest thing a fighting game will ever do,” said another. “He needs a counter where if he gets hit, he falls on the ground and cries so he gets a penalty,” added a third.
Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves is out April 24 for PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
