Major PS5 Pro PSSR Update Reportedly Leaked

It’s no secret that Sony is working on a PS5 Pro PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) update behind the scenes, but what that update entails may just have leaked. According to a known insider, the update is substantial enough to be dubbed “PSSR 2,” and includes support for 4K at 120 frames-per-second locked.
Incoming PS5 Pro PSSR update reportedly capable of upscaling from lower resolutions
The latest leak is brought to use by YouTuber Moore’s Law Is Dead (MLID), who is most known for accurately leaking PS5 Pro and internal Sony documentation with the console’s specs. However, despite their track record, we advise taking all rumors with a grain of salt.
As for what MLID claims is coming in “PSSR 2,” according to what the leaker has seen, Sony is not only aiming for 4K at 120 fps but also 8k at 60 fps. The company is also allegedly adding support for more resolutions to PSSR, including 1440p and 1080p.
But more importantly, this PSSR update will reportedly be capable of upscaling from lower resolutions than it does now. We’re talking upscaling from 720p, 540p, and even 360p. On the dev side, Sony plans to make the tech easier to work with, and will make it more “lightweight,” so that game performance isn’t compromised.
MLID isn’t sure if Sony will announce the rumored PSSR update since the company continues to tweak the tech behind the scenes without announcing its revisions.
